The Maryland Respite Care Coalition with host the 2010 National Respite Conference October 24-27 in Baltimore, MD.
The 2010 National Lifespan Respite Conference, October 24-27, 2010, will be held at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel, Baltimore, MD. The conference is being hosted by the Maryland Respite Care Coalition in partnership with the ARCH National Respite Network and the National Respite Coalition.
The theme for the conference this year is “RESPITE: CREATE IT.” The goal of the conference is to showcase the creative ways in which Lifespan Respite Care can be delivered throughout the nation. We expect attendance of 600 to 800, representing parents, family members, life partners, older adults, grandparents, social workers, case managers, program managers, nurses, advocates, direct support staffs, health professionals, policy developers, advocates, respite and crisis care providers, state respite coalitions, community leaders and elected officials.
The target audience is everyone who supports family members and caregivers of individuals affected by life altering conditions due to disability or illness (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, mental illness, developmental disabilities, Parkinson’s, Lou Gehrig’s disease, autism, HIV, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, etc.) or families at risk of abuse or neglect. It will be an important networking opportunity for your organization to promote and share information of your special services and innovative initiatives designed to advance useful and satisfactory respite programs supporting caregivers in diverse communities with differing traditions and cultures.
National Respite Conference Call for Papers The time period for submitting a proposal has now been closed. The recent Program Announcement from the US Administration on Aging for the next wave of State Lifespan Respite Grants urges individuals to attend the National Respite Conference. I hope you will consider participating in this important event.
